Pete Molloy wrote in the Preston Guild official programme, after a recent showcase on January 28th 2007.
“Outstanding for me was Shaun Fields, another young up and coming entertainer with, I consider, a fantastic future. Watch out for him - I’m sure you will agree!”

Singer, 14, backs Bonnie
He was recently crowned the North West’s top talent and now there’s just no stopping this Wigan teenage singing sensation. Shaun Fields is only 14 years old but has already set his first showbiz date with a world-famous singing star.
The St John Fisher pupil, will support Bonnie Tyler when she performs at the Hard Rock Cafe in Manchester on Wednesday - and he cant wait.
Shaun won the Manchester, Printworks Talentworks grand final in August, and was astounded at his success after failing to win his heat and only getting through as a wildcard entry.
The future star won a professionally shot music video and a photo portfolio, plus his own performance at Hard Rock Cafe, Manchester.
This performance took place Wednesday gone.
His music video, My Girl, set in the Hard Rock Cafe, is currently being rotated every hour on the big screens inside and outside the Printworks.
Shaun said: “It was great to make the video and it only took a couple of hours. Everyone saw it for the first time on Wednesday which was great.”
At only 14, Shaun might be too young to enter competitions such as X-Factor, but hes just itching to make it big time. He added: “I would love to go in for those competitions if i was old enough as it would be a great experience!”
Wigan Evening Post - Wednesday 18th August 2004
He’s conquered the North West, Next stop the world! Shaun Fields, 14, was crowned top talent of the North West at the Talentworks Grand Final, Held at The Printworks, Manchester. With his soulful renditions of My Girl and Leave Right Now, Shaun beat seven of the regions finest amateur performers, all competing for their chance to make it big in the music industry.
Shaun of Springfield, Wigan, stole the show to claim the fantastic prizes of a professionally shot music video and a photo portfolio, plus a chance to perform at the Hard Rock Cafe, Manchester. But he would not have been in the final at all if he had not been hand picked to compete as a wild card entry after failing to win his heat in July.
He said: “I was shocked to win it as the judges seemed to be very keen on one of the other contestants. It seemed to go really well for me on the day and i had some good comments too.”
The final saw four heat winners and four hand picked wild cards from the heats battle it out for the title in front of a panel of media experts including Breakfast presenter Nicksy, from Galaxy 102. An ex singer and now editor of Manchester lifestyle magazine in Manchester,
bar owner and band booker Michael Huckerby and Iain Duncan from Hard Rock Cafe.
Shaun said: “Nicksy told me that i should enter Pop Idol as i would have a good chance, but i am still too young. And Iain Duncan said i had the most confidence and could win and keep an audience at any Hard Rock Cafe up and down the country.”
If last years winner of Talentworks is anything to go by, then Shaun could be snapped up by a major record company before too long.

COULD Wigan have the new Gareth Gates?
Shaun Fields, 13, of Springfield, Wigan appeared on the hit childrens BBC TV Programme last week singing a live cover version of Gareth Gates track Spirit in The Sky. After a tight vote by viewers at home, the St John Fisher pupil won his heat and is now through to the final in Glasgow and is in with a chance with singing with the Pop Idol himself.
Shaun who has appeared in many local talent shows, entered the competition by sending a video of himself singing to the bosses at Beeb.
Shaun began singing when he was five. His mum, Julie said: “When he was five he heard a story about a young lad who had made a CD when he was eight. He kept asking can i make one? So we promised him he could when he was eight.”
Shaun was just sitting at home when he recieved the phone call to say he had made it onto the show, which he was really excited and shocked
about. Shaun says: “I am really excited about the final, hopefully people will help me out and votes for me on saturday. Bring it on!”

As i was rooting through old memories a few days back i managed to come across some old newspaper articles from the Wigan Evening Post, some even date back around six years!
I thought these would be interesting to show around so i will post them here in my blog for everyone to see, it’s so shocking what can be found when rooting through old stuff.
